Keep Racism Out

“Keep Racism Out” is the anti-discrimination campaign promoted by Lega Serie A, in collaboration with UNAR – the National Office Against Racial Discrimination of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, aimed at ensuring equal treatment and the protection of human rights in football.
A strong and concrete stance, further reinforced by Lega Serie A’s membership in the National Observatory against Discrimination in Sport, the first European body dedicated to the systematic monitoring of discriminatory incidents, with periodic reports and targeted analyses to combat the phenomenon.
A call to action for the entire football community
“Keep Racism Out” is an invitation addressed to players, coaches, referees, executives, fans and football enthusiasts to take a stand against all forms of discrimination.
Launched in the 2020/2021 season, the campaign has grown stronger over the years through increasingly structured initiatives aimed at raising awareness among younger generations, with a shared goal: winning the most important match of all—keeping racism out of football.
Initiatives on Serie A pitches
Each season, around the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Lega Serie A dedicates two matchdays to the campaign.
During these matchdays:
-
the ball podium, the players’ lineup arch and the substitution board are branded with the “Keep Racism Out” identity;
-
team captains wear a dedicated armband and players display a commemorative patch on their right sleeve;
-
coaches and players appear in interviews wearing the official campaign sticker on jackets and kits.
Official campaign video spot
Last season, Lega Serie A produced an institutional video spot dedicated to the campaign, featuring three outstanding ambassadors: Coach Fabio Capello, Alessandro Del Piero and Christian Vieri.
A powerful message conveyed through three iconic figures of Italian football, reaffirming that racism has no place in our sport.
Children in the matchday ceremony (since 2023/2024)
All Serie A matches now open with the entrance into the pitch of children wearing the Keep Racism Out campaign jersey who accompany the players during the pre-match ceremony.
A symbolic and inclusive gesture that highlights the role of new generations in building a fairer and more respectful football culture.
Collaborations and special projects
EA SPORTS – From FIFA to EA SPORTS FC
To amplify the reach of the message, EA SPORTS introduced a dedicated digital “Keep Racism Out” kit:

-
then in the new editions EA SPORTS FC 24 and EA SPORTS FC 25,
ensuring continuity in delivering the educational message within the world’s most played football video game.
Rai Ragazzi – Offside Racism (two seasons)
For two seasons, Lega Serie A supported the Rai Ragazzi program “Offside Racism,” aimed at young players from Serie A clubs’ youth academies.
Episodes showcased stories of integration, commitment and personal growth, concluding with the presentation of the “Keep Racism Out” jersey by a First Team player.
Docu-film “Seydou – Dreams Have No Color” (2024)
Lega Serie A supported the documentary film dedicated to Seydou, a story of sport, courage and inclusion.
The film stands as an authentic testimony to the impact football can have in fighting discrimination and breaking down social barriers.
The challenge continues
With “Keep Racism Out,” Lega Serie A renews its daily commitment to promoting a sporting environment free from discrimination, grounded in respect, equality and the appreciation of diversity.
Football has the power to unite: together, we can build a future where racism no longer has a place.
