VARDY-CREMONESE: FAIRY TALE CONTINUES IN SERIE A
A signing that will attract the attention of many: Jamie Vardy, the working class hero of modern football, is joining Cremonese and is preparing to light up Serie A in the Grigiorossi shirt. At 38 years old, after thirteen seasons with Leicester, and a career that will be remembered by many, the forward from Sheffield will bring goals, charisma and personality to the league. Nicola is welcoming a leader, a symbol and above all, a clinical finisher.
From non-league to Premier League stardom
Vardy is the main character in one of sport’s greatest fairy tales. After six seasons playing across the amateur divisions, alternating between football and factory work, at 25 years old, Jamie got the call from Leicester. In the space of two seasons, he guided the Foxes to the Premier League and in his second year in the top division, he scored 24 goals that led Ranieri’s side, who began the season wanting to stay up, to winning a title that shocked the entire football world. Names like Mahrez, Kanté and Schmeichel are also well remembered for this achievement, but he remains the most memorable symbol of their title feat. Jamie Vardy, the working class hero, ****loved all over England.
Legendary numbers with the Foxes
Jamie made over 500 appearances and scored more than 200 goals with Leicester, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Community Shield. On an individual level, he was named the 2015/16 Premier League Player of the Season and he scored the most goals of any player in the 2019/20 season, making him the oldest top goalscorer in England’s top division at 33 years old. For England, he scored seven goals in 24 appearances. Last season, despite the Foxes’ relegation, he ended the year on 10 goals, ****spread between the league and the cups. These numbers show that his hunger is still there.

The new challenge with the Grigiorossi**
As a free agent after leaving Leicester, Vardy chose Cremona for the last chapter of his career. The centre-forward will begin work with the group during the international break, aiming to be ready for their game on 15 September against Verona at the Bentegodi. Nicola can count on a complete forward: a relentless finisher, lethal in open space, head strong and a hard-working attitude that has made him a leader both on and off the pitch. The English striker is joining an attack that is combining both experience and enthusiasm: De Luca, Bonazzoli and Vázquez (heroes of their promotion) alongside former Torino man, Sanabria. His combination with the “Mudo” Vázquez, in particular, promises spark and high-quality results. As league leaders on full points, Vardy’s arrival will only build the Grigiorossi fans’ dreams: the hero of Leicester’s miracle is ready to do it all again, this time in Serie A.
