Torino vs. Roma: a league clash after the Coppa
Torino vs. Roma, part two. The sides faced each other on Tuesday in the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa, with İlkan scoring a late goal to seal a 3-2 win for the Granata. Just a few days later, they meet again, this time at the Olimpico Grande Torino. After rotating his squad, Gian Piero Gasperini is set to return to his first-choice XI with the aim of staying in touch with the two Milan clubs while keeping a close eye on Napoli and Juventus. The visitors, meanwhile, have won the last two meetings between the sides: in addition to their away win in the Coppa, Baroni’s side emerged victorious in the reverse league fixture thanks to a goal from “El Cholito” Simeone. 16 points separate the two teams in the table, but recent history means Roma can’t take this fixture lightly if they are to continue dreaming big. As for Torino, they are keen to climb back into the top half of the table, currently three points adrift.
