Torino vs. Genoa: lunchtime clash
Torino and Genoa meet at the Olimpico Grande Torino in a lunchtime kick-off. The Granata’s two wins have come against Roma and Napoli – two teams in the upper echelons – and now they’ll be looking to pick up three points against a side not doing quite so well to push towards the top ten. Genoa, however, have other plans: they’re desperate for their first win of the season to move off the bottom of the table.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
There have been 62 official meetings between the two sides in Turin: 36 Granata wins, 20 draws, and 6 Genoa victories. Genoa’s most recent win dates back to 24 May 2009, a 3–2 success in Serie A, and it is their only triumph at Torino’s ground in the post-war era. The previous five all came before 1942/43, the last single-group Serie A season before the war.
DID YOU KNOW?
Genoa are winless after seven matchdays of Serie A 2025/26, along with Pisa, Verona, and Fiorentina. The Grifone’s last victory was the 3–1 at Bologna on 24 May. Genoa had not begun a Serie A season without a win in the first seven rounds since 2017/18.
COACHES and PLAYERS
This is the second official meeting between Marco Baroni and Patrick Vieira, after Genoa–Lazio 0–2 in last season’s Serie A. Giovanni Simeone, formerly of Genoa: he played for the club in the 2016/17 season, making 37 appearances and scoring 14 goals.
