Torino in Monza to achieve back-to-back wins
Monza and Torino clash at the U-Power Stadium at 12:30 CET. Having only picked up one point in their last six games (0-0 against Lecce), the home side must forget their 4-0 loss to Roma to turn their form around and try to move towards safety. The Granata, however, head into the game having beaten AC Milan last week and are looking to secure two wins in a row for the second time this season. Their last two consecutive wins were back at the end of August.
HEAD TO HEAD
The first match in Monza's history in Serie A was played against Torino on 13 August 2022: a 2-1 victory for the Granata at the U-Power Stadium, with goals from Miranchuk and Sanabria for the Piedmontese and a goal from Dany Mota for the Lombards. Monza have not enjoyed any victories in their five matches against Torino in Serie A (3D, 2L); only against Roma, Lazio and Lecce they have played more matches without ever winning in the top division (six), while only against Lecce (four) has the team from Brianza drawn more Serie A games than against the Granata (three).
DID YOU KNOW?
Monza have gained picked up 14 points this season; only one of the 25 teams who have accrued 14 or fewer points after 26 games in a Serie A season (considering the three points per victory) have managed to avoid relegation: Crotone in 2016/17 (13 points after 26 games). Monza have not scored in their last two league games at the U-Power Stadium and the Brianza team could remain without a goal in three home games in a row for the first time in Serie A. After the victory against Milan in their most recent match, Torino could make it two wins in a row in Serie A for the first time since last August (against Atalanta and Venezia). Torino have won only two of their last 10 matches against teams starting the matchday in bottom position in the Serie A table (5D, 3L), drawing the most recent one 0-0 on 4 February 2024 against Salernitana. No team has received more yellow cards than Monza in the Serie A 2024/25: 63, along with Hellas Verona – in fourth place in this ranking is Torino (56, level with Udinese). Monza have registered fewer touches in the opposition box (336) than any other side in Serie A this season, while in fourth to last position in this ranking is Torino (417).
PLAYERS
Since Monza have been in Serie A (2022/23), Dany Mota has been the Brianza player who has scored the highest number of goals in the competition (13), including the club's first goal in the tournament (against Torino on 13 August 2022). However, he has not scored in the championship since last October 21st against Hellas Verona (a brace in that case). Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has saved the most penalties in the 2024/25 Big-5 European leagues (four out of five faced). In the last 20 Serie A seasons, since the data is available (since 2005/06), only Samir Handanovic (six in 2010/11) has saved more spot-kicks in a single league campaign.
