Roma in Reggio Emilia looking to bounce back

Sassuolo host Roma as the Giallorossi seek to recover from their defeat to Inter

Sassuolo welcome Roma to the Mapei Stadium on matchday 8 in Serie A. The Neroverdi are aiming to continue their positive run, having picked up seven points from their last three games, most recently a draw with Lecce last week. Roma, meanwhile, are chasing three points of their own as they look to put their loss to Inter behind them and return to challenging for top spot.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There have been 11 previous meetings between the two sides in Emilia: one win for the Neroverdi, four draws, and six victories for the visitors. Only in the 0–0 draw on 18 May 2019 did Roma fail to score away to the Emilians; in the other 10 matches, the Giallorossi have found the net 20 times.

DID YOU KNOW?

Sassuolo have kept a clean sheet in the league for 215 minutes; the last goal conceded was by Davis in the 55th minute of Sassuolo–Udinese 3–1 on 28 September. Roma have the best defence in Serie A 2025/26, with three goals conceded.

COACHES and PLAYERS

Between Fabio Grosso and Gian Piero Gasperini, this is their second official meeting: the only previous one was on 30 November 2019 in Serie A, Brescia–Atalanta 0–3. Paulo Dybala has scored four hat-tricks in Serie A, one of them against Sassuolo at the Mapei: Sassuolo–Juventus 1–3 (17 September 2017).
