Serie A Enilive Matchday 35: Twists and Turns
This weekend, Serie A Enilive produced its most important verdict with three games to go: Inter are crowned Champions of Italy after a dominant run, sealed by their victory over Parma.
But there’s still plenty that makes this season more unpredictable and exciting than ever, as matchday 35 confirms. With some teams already under no pressure and others still chasing their objectives, the weekend has brought results that have reshuffled things: Sassuolo, clear of the relegation zone, held Milan to a draw, and Verona, who are already relegated, secured a point against Juventus, while Lazio made a comeback and beat Cremonese.
In light of all this, the race for the Champions League suddenly heats up again as Roma capitalised on the triple setback for Milan, Juventus, and Napoli.
At the bottom of the table, Lecce secured a crucial win that reshaped the relegation battle, while Cremonese wasted a prime opportunity to close the gap. Genoa celebrated mathematical survival in Serie A, with Parma and Torino already safe, and Cagliari and Fiorentina are now also within reach of the finish line.
Lecce’s win away at Pisa kicked off the matchday and marked a vital result in the relegation fight. The side from Salento came out on top thanks to decisive moments from Banda and Cheddira, ending Leris’s comeback hopes. Lecce have now recorded their third win of the season against newly promoted sides, highlighting their efficiency in direct clashes. Di Francesco’s team extended their unbeaten streak to three matches, and Banda proved himself to be a true leader in attack with seven goal contributions (four goals and three assists), a personal record in a single Serie A season. The final result mathematically sealed Pisa and Verona’s relegation.
Udinese found their momentum again with the home crowd behind them and beat Torino in a commanding display. Ehizibue opened the scoring at the end of the first half, and Kristensen decided the game in the second half with his third goal of the season, once again a header. No defender has performed better in terms of aerial goals. The side from Friuli are now on 47 points, the most they’ve recorded from 35 matches since 2012/13, and this is the first season they’ve beaten Torino in both league fixtures since 2007/08. On the other hand, Torino once again struggled at the start of the second half, a period in which they had already conceded ten goals this season.
It ended in a goalless draw at the Sinigaglia for Como and Napoli, marking their second 0–0 encounter of the season. Como demonstrated their impressive defensive solidity: 17 clean sheets, the highest in Europe’s top five leagues. Como are also the team with the most goalless draws (six), but for Fabregas’ side, this result felt like a chance slipped away as their dreams of fourth place grow further out of reach. For Napoli, the game extended their unbeaten away run to four matches.
It was another goalless draw between Atalanta and Genoa, as Atalanta missed out on an important chance to move further up the table. Raspadori had the clearest chances, but he was left frustrated after hitting the crossbar and being denied by poor finishing. Palladino’s team have gone four matches without a win (two draws, two defeats), while Genoa, although they moved up to 40 points and secured mathematical safety, continued to struggle in attack with six goalless games in their last eleven.
The Dall’Ara was also the backdrop for very few chances as Bologna and Cagliari shared the points without breaking the deadlock. The side from Emilia are now on consecutive goalless games, highlighting their difficulties in front of their home fans, with just two wins in their last thirteen games. Cagliari missed out on two big chances through Deiola and Zé Pedro, but can still feel confident about their position in the table: 37 points, their best tally at this stage of the season since 2020/21.
One of the most striking results of the matchday was Sassuolo’s home win over Milan. Berardi once again did the Rossoneri damage, confirming his status as a nightmare opponent with twelve career goals against them, behind only Piola and Chiesa. Laurienté sealed the match early in the second half, adding to a season that features nine assists, among the best in Europe’s top leagues. Milan suffered a worrying lack of attacking threat, with no shots on target in the match and just one goal in their last five games, and with only seven total shots on target in that period.
Juventus managed to tie with an already-relegated Verona thanks to Vlahović, who returned to scoring after six months. However, the Bianconeri failed to make the most of the opportunity and extended a difficult run against relegation-zone sides: four winless games in their last six such matches. It is worth acknowledging the strength of their defensive solidity, with just two goals conceded in the last eight games. Verona played with courage, remaining unbeaten in two of their four 2026 matches against top teams, while also relying on their prolific Scottish striker Bowie, who scored all of their last three goals.
Of course, the headline of the matchday was Inter’s triumph, as they beat Parma on Sunday night to mathematically secure the Scudetto. Goals from Thuram and Mkhitaryan capped off a season that is also spectacular statistically: 115 total goals across all competitions, an all-time club record in the single round-robin era. Thuram continued to prove his excellent form, having scored six goals since the start of April, and Mkhitaryan once again proved Parma to be his favourite opponent, recording his eighth goal contribution in his career against the Gialloblù.
At the Zini, there was bitter disappointment for the home side as Lazio made a late comeback, with one of the most dramatic games of the matchday. After Bonazzoli’s opener, Lazio responded through Isaksen and completed the comeback in the 92nd minute with Noslin. It was their first comeback victory since October 2024 and further evidence of a team that performs well under pressure. Lazio have already scored eight goals after the 90th minute, more than anyone else in the league. Sarri’s side continued on their path of improvement, securing 17 points in their last eight games compared to 16 in the previous 15. Only Juventus (18) have done better. On the other hand, Cremonese saw their survival hopes fall further out of reach.
The matchday came to an end with Roma’s dominant victory over Fiorentina, which proved decisive in the Champions League race. The Giallorossi delivered a solid performance, and once again their centre-backs produced key contributions. Mancini and Hermoso both made it onto the scoresheet, with the Spaniard proving himself to be the most productive defender at home (five goal contributions). Roma extended their unbeaten home run to eleven matches, while Wesley reached five goals and Pisilli recorded a goal and an assist in a standout performance. For Fiorentina, set pieces continue to pose a major problem defensively, conceding 13 goals from headers, the worst record in the league.
