NOTHING IS LOST
The most positive thing in 2022 for Sampdoria, in footballing terms, is that it has ended. After a slow start with only two points from their opening nine games – draws wth Juventus and Lazio - the Blucerchiati decided to change Head Coach, replacing Marco Giampaolo with Dejan Stanković. Sadly, it hasn‘t had the desired effect. The Serbian‘s opening game against Bologna ended in another draw, which was then followed up with their only win of the campaign two weeks later, at home to Cremonese. Those points helped them move up the table, but it hasn't been the turning point the home fans had hoped for. Sampdoria currently find themselves second bottom in the table on six points, with only Hellas Verona below them with five. They are seven points off safety but all is not lost. The break will give the Genovesi the chance to press the reset button and start off their hunt for survival in the best possible way with three points at Sassuolo on Wednesday 4 January at 12:30 CET. Instead, their first home game back will see them up against Napoli on Sunday 8 January, with kick off at 18:00 CET.
