NICOLAS KÜHN IS BIANCOBLU
KÜHN’S EUROPEAN JOURNEY HEADS TO COMO
Not just young growing players: Como have changed tactics and have combined the enthusiasm of their young emerging talent to a player who’s ready and full of footballing maturity. Nicolas Kühn, a 2000-born German winger, has officially made the move to Como. Signing him from Celtic Glasgow, where he was one of the real stars last season, brings a boost of experience that can make a real difference. The club’s goal is clear: raising the bar of their attacking threat with a ready-for-action player who will know how to adapt to Fàbregas’ rotations alongside young talents Paz and Diao, as well as new arrivals Baturina, Jesus Rodríguez and Addai.
AROUND EUROPE: FROM AMSTERDAM TO GLASGOW
Kühn learned to play in the youth academies of St. Pauli, Hannover, Leipzig and Ajax, and for a long time he was considered to be one of the outstanding prospects in German football, so much so that he was awarded the best German U19 player in 2019. His professional debut came with Jong Ajax, but it was with Bayern II, Erzgebirge Aue and Rapid Vienna that he began to grow into a complete footballer. In Austria, in particular, he got his first taste of European competition, also scoring his first Conference League goal.
His real jump in quality came at Celtic Glasgow, where, after an initial adaption period, he exploded into action in the 2024/25 season: 21 goals and 15 assists in 51 appearances, with three goals in the Champions League, one of which got his side the lead in Munich against Bayern in the second leg of the play-offs. It was a year of leading from the front that interested Como, and they are now ready to provide him with this new journey.
WHAT HE CAN BRING TO COMO: A TRUSTWORTHY WINGER
Kühn is naturally left-footed, but able to adapt across the whole front line. He loves having the ball at his feet and taking on his man: dribbling, speed, technique in tight spaces and personality are his main qualities. He thrives in 1v1s, he plays with assuredness and he isn’t afraid of taking charge in front of goal. He can play on the left or the right, but also as an attacking midfielder, giving Fàbregas a ready-for-use option, particularly as a replacement for Diao, still in recovery after the injury to his right foot suffered at the end of last season. This time it’s not a young talent needing guidance, but a prepared and ready player, with more to discover in a high-level competition. Kühn will be an interesting player in guiding the youngest stars and in helping Como to grow without fear. Their goal? To keep hunting down their European dreams.
