Napoli vs. Frosinone: both in need of three points

At Maradona, Napoli and Frosinone take on each other in the lunchtime kick-off with the aim of earning three precious points: the Neapolitans in their quest for a place in Europe, and the Ciociari for safety

Napoli and Frosinone get the Sunday schedule underway in a fixture nether side can slip up in. After the win in Monza, Calzona’s lads will be looking for three more points to try to climb up the table. The Ciociari have the same goal and after two consecutive draws, against Genoa and Bologna, desperately need points to try and get out of the relegation zone.

DID YOU KNOW?

Frosinone have not yet won an away match in Serie A this season (D4 L11); in their previous two Serie A seasons, the Ciociari had achieved at least two away victories in both (two in 2015/16 and four in 2018/19). Napoli have kept only six league clean sheets this season; in their Serie A history only in one other season have they recorded fewer clean sheets after 31 games played: four in the 1997/98 campaign.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Napoli have won each of their five matches against Frosinone in Serie A; among the teams they have a 100% record against in the competition, only against Crotone (6/6) have they played more games. Furthermore, the Partenopei are the team that have scored the most goals against the Ciociari in the Italian top-flight (18). Napoli are one of the four sides against which Frosinone have never scored an away goal in Serie A, along with Atalanta, Inter and Parma; the Partenopei have won both previous such meetings with a 4-0 score.

PLAYERS

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen scored a brace in the reverse fixture earlier this season against Frosinone. The only other sides he’s scored 2+ goals against in multiple in the games in the competition are Sassulo and Spezia, while he’s never previously done so within the same campaign against an opponent. Matías Soulé (191) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (162) are two of the five players with the most dribbles attempted in the big five European leagues in 2023/24, along with Sávio (168), Leroy Sané (167) and Mohammed Kudus (166); furthermore, the Argentine has created the most chances following a carry in Serie A this campaign (23), followed by the Georgian (21, level with Rafael Leão).
