Monza vs. Como, precious points up for grabs

A true Lombard clash between Monza and Como. The Brianzoli are running out of chances to keep their survival hopes alive, while the Lariani are aiming to distance themselves from the bottom three

Monza and Como will get the Saturday action of Serie A Enilive matchday 31 underway. The home side have not won since 13 January, when they beat Fiorentina, and have only gained two points in their last ten matches. A win is vital in order to keep their survival hopes alive.

The Lariani are also on the lookout for points as they have only recorded two in their last four matches. A win would increase the distance between them and the relegation zone.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Following their 1-1 draw on 30 November, Como could become the first team against which Monza have drawn both their first two matches in Serie A. Monza are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 games against Como between Serie A, Serie B and Serie C (W5 D4); the only success of the Lariani side in the period was on 3 April 2022 in Serie B at Sinigaglia.

Monza have avoided defeat in 11 of their last 14 games against newly-promoted teams in Serie A (W5 D6), although their last success against these teams was on 16 March 2024 (1-0 vs Cagliari) – three draws and two defeats since then. Como have lost their last four derbies of Lombardia and have they never recorded more defeats in a row against these teams in a single Serie A campaign (also 4 in 1951/52). Monza have avoided defeat in three of their five home games played in the second leg this season (W1 D2), as many times as in the entire first leg (D3 L7); however, in the last four Serie A home matches they have scored just one goal (Armando Izzo vs Parma). Como have won one of their last 11 away matches in Serie A – three draws and seven defeats – the only success in the period was against Fiorentina on 16 February 2025 (2-0), in the only one of these games in which they kept a clean sheet. Como have won most possession in the final third in Serie A this season (143) while Monza are the one that have recorded the least (62). Monza and Como have scored five goals from set pieces in Serie A this season; fewer than any other teams in the competition.
