Matchday 37 opens with Sampdoria-Sassuolo

The Blucerchiati already relegated greet their fans at Marassi with the hope of returning to Serie A TIM soon

SAMPDORIA-SASSUOLO (26/5/23 8.45 PM)

Sampdoria have won their last two Serie A matches against Sassuolo, having they won only three of their previous 17 games against the Neroverdi in the competition (D6 L8). Sassuolo have won eight Serie A matches against Sampdoria, against no team have they won more games in the competition (D6 L5). Sampdoria have won 18 points so far this season and can get a maximum of 24 points; their lowest tally - considering three points for a win – in a top-flight campaign is 28 points (1968-69, 1973-74 and 1974-75). Sampdoria have failed to score in 11 home games this league season, only fewer than Ajaccio (13 goalless home matches) in the major five European Leagues in 2022-23 – indeed, the Blucerchiati could set a new negative club record should they fail to score in this game (11 also in 1972-73). Sassuolo have won 44 points so far this term and could equal their points tally from last season with two victories in the last two matchdays (50 points at the end of the season). Fabio Quagliarella has scored in 18 different Serie A seasons; he has scored five goals against Sassuolo in the top-flight, with two of those goals coming at Luigi Ferraris stadium, in 2016 and 2020. Domenico Berardi has scored nine goals against Sampdoria in Serie A, only scoring more goals against Milan (11 goals) in the competition; the Sassuolo striker has scored each of his last five goals at home and is looking to score away for the first time since 12 March 2023, against Roma.
