Lecce visit Salerno to restart

Salernitana must win to continue hoping for survival, the same goal as Lecce, who have 11 more points and at this moment would be the first team virtually safe

After the defeat against Cagliari, Salernitana host Lecce to seek a victory that they have been missing since 30 December (1-0 in Verona) and reignite hopes of avoiding relegation. Lecce also need three points, having earned only one point in the last five matches (1-1 against Frosinone), and after bidding farewell to D'Aversa, they have entrusted Luca Gotti to try to stay in Serie A TIM.

DID YOU KNOW?

Salernitana have won just two league matches this season (D8 L18), with no team going on to avoid relegation on each of the previous 22 occasions in which a team had recorded a maximum of two wins after 28 matches of a Serie A campaign. Lecce (D6 L8) are one of only two teams yet to win an away game in Serie A this season along with Frosinone. Overall, I Giallorossi have only won one of their last 21 Serie A away matches (D7 L13): 1-0 against Monza last May.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Across the three previous Serie A meetings between Salernitana and Lecce, I Giallorossi have always won the first such matchup of the season while I Granata won the only match in the second half of the season. Only Salernitana (2) have won fewer points in Serie A in 2024 than Lecce (5 – level with Frosinone) whilst only I Giallorossi (6) have scored fewer goals then I Granata (8 – level with Sassuolo) in that same period.

PLAYERS

Since the season of his first assist in Serie A (2009/10), Antonio Candreva has recorded more assists than any other player in the competition (85). With 84 goals in Serie A, he could become only the 5th midfielder to record both 85+ goals and 85+ assists in the big 5 European leagues across the last 15 seasons alongside Kevin De Bruyne, Ángel Di María, Marco Reus and Dimitri Payet. Wladimiro Falcone is one of the only three players not to have missed a single minute in Serie A this season, along with Sebastiano Luperto and Lorenzo Montipò (2520 minutes).
