Lazio vs. Salernitana to kick things off
Matchday 32 in Serie A TIM begins this evening at 20:45 CEST. After the loss to Roma broke a series of two wins on the trot, Lazio will want to get back up and running again in their hunt for a place in Europe. Bottom of the table with 15 points, two less than Sampdoria who found themselves in the same position after matchday 31 last season, Salernitana are 12 points from safety, but after the draw with Sassuolo last week are looking for three points that have not come their way since 30 December (1-0 over Verona).
DID YOU KNOW?
Salernitana have collected only three points in Serie A in 2024 (D3, L10) – no team have won fewer points in the major five European leagues and related second divisions since the beginning of this calendar year (Lecco also three, in Serie B). Lazio have scored only 37 goals in Serie A 2023/24, only in 2009-10 have they ever scored fewer goals after 31 league games (29) in the three points for a win era (since 1994-95).
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Lazio and Salernitana have never drawn in Serie A: five wins for the Biancocelesti and four for the Granata; among the opponents against which Salernitana have never drawn a single match in the Italian top-flight, Lazio is the one against which they played the most matches (nine). After winning their first three Serie A home games against Salernitana, Lazio lost the most recent one on 30/10/2022; there’s been at least three goals in all four matches.
PLAYERS
Mattéo Guendouzi has assisted three of Lazio’s last five goals in Serie A (excl. own goals). He has been involved in five goals in Serie A this season (two goals and three assists), one fewer than in the previous season for Marseille in Ligue 1 (two goals and four assists). Salernitana’s Antonio Candreva (six goals and six assists) is one of the only three midfielders - alongside Christian Pulisic (10G, 6A) and Charles De Ketelaere (6G, 6A) - to have scored 6+ goals and provided 6+ assists in this Serie A season; moreover, he is the midfielder who has been involved in the highest percentage of his teams’ goals in 2023-24 (48% - 12/25).
