Juventus vs. Inter: a Serie A thriller
After the international break, a blockbuster clash awaits in Serie A as Juventus host Inter at the Allianz Stadium. The Bianconeri come into the showdown with a perfect record, having beaten Parma and Genoa, and are looking for a third straight win to move six points clear of the Nerazzurri. Inter, on the other hand, are aiming to bounce back. After an impressive victory over Torino in on matchday 1, they lost 2-1 to Udinese at San Siro last time out. Chivu’s side will be looking for a win to draw level with Juventus in the table and regain momentum.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
There have been 110 official matches between the two clubs in Turin, with 71 wins for the Bianconeri, 17 for the Nerazzurri, and 22 draws. Over the last 15 meetings at Juventus’ home ground, the record shows one Inter win, nine Juventus wins, and five draws. Inter’s most recent win away to Juventus dates back to 3 April 2022 (0–1), with Hakan Çalhanoğlu scoring from the penalty spot.
DID YOU KNOW?
In Serie A Enilive, the Derby d’Italia had not been played in September since 18 September 2016; on that occasion Inter came from behind to win 2–1 at San Siro (goals by Lichtsteiner, Icardi, and Perišić). Juventus–Inter is one of only two matches in the entire history of the single round-robin Serie A in which a player scored six goals in a single game: in the 1960/61 season, Juventus won 9–1 with six goals by Sivori. This remains Juventus’s biggest win and Inter’s heaviest defeat in the single round-robin era. For the first time in 51 years, a Serie A clash between Juventus and Inter features two foreign head coaches: on Epiphany 1974 (6 January), Juventus won 2–0 in Turin with goals by Altafini and Cuccureddu (pen.). The managers were Cestmir Vycpalek for Juventus and Helenio Herrera for Inter.
COACHES and PLAYERS
The only managerial head-to-head between Igor Tudor and Cristian Chivu came in Parma– Juventus last season, which ended 1–0 thanks to a goal by Pellegrino. With Gleison Bremer on the pitch, Juventus have not conceded a goal in eight consecutive Serie A matches. The Brazilian defender has made 74 appearances for the Bianconeri, registering a clean sheet on 41 occasions. Lautaro Martínez is the member of Inter’s current squad who has scored the most goals against Juventus (4). In the calendar year 2025, Denzel Dumfries is Inter’s second-highest scorer (9 goals), behind Lautaro Martínez with 18.
