Juric’s Atalanta reign begins against Pisa

Ivan Juric will take charge of his first Atalanta match as La Dea host Alberto Gilardino’s Pisa

Two teams with different objectives and two new head coaches who want to make a strong start: Atalanta and Pisa meet at the Stadio di Bergamo looking to get off on the right foot. La Dea hope to begin a new chapter of success after nine years under Gasperini, while the Tuscans, who knocked Cesena out on penalties in the first round of the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa, return to Serie A after 35 years, for the ninth time in their history. Their aim is simple: to stay up.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Thirteen official confrontations in Bergamo between the two teams: 8 Atalanta wins (last 2-0 in the 2014/15 Coppa Italia), 4 draws (last 0-0 in the 1979/80 Serie B) and only 1 Pisa win (2-1 in the 1985/86 Serie A, goals by Bergreen and Kieft in a comeback after Atalanta's lead with Stromberg).

DID YOU KNOW?

Atalanta achieved the fifth Champions League qualification in its history thanks to last year's third place finish with 78 points. Pisa returns to Serie A after 35 seasons: the last appearance had been in the 1990/91 season and that year the Tuscans won the first two days of the championship, gaining first place.

COACHES

The new coach of Pisa 2025/26 is Gilardino, who last year remained at Genoa until November. In Serie A so far the Piedmont-born coach has coached only the Liguria side.
