Jashari Joins Milan: Vision and Midfield Future
Ardon Jashari is officially AC Milan’s new player. After just one standout season with Club Brugge, the Swiss midfielder has chosen to continue his growth under Massimiliano Allegri. The 2002-born player is convinced by Tare’s ambitious project and the prestige of the Rossonero club, so he is ready to make the jump into one of Europe’s most demanding leagues. He is a complete, flexible midfielder, who will work perfectly with his new partners in midfield: Samuele Ricci, young but already used to Serie A, and Luka Modrić, a timeless talent.
Who is Ardon Jashari: an emerging talent of European football
Born in Cham in 2002, Jashari is a Swiss national but with Albanian roots, originally from North Macedonia. He began his footballing journey with Lucerna, and in the youth academy he played as a number 10 or a CAM, performing well in front of goal. He made his first team debut at 18 years old, but only in the second half of the 2021/22 season did he begin excelling as a central midfielder, gradually becoming a playmaker sitting just in front of the defence. Jashari soon became the captain and the backbone of the team, and was at his most prolific in the 2023/24 season: six goals and three assists in 39 appearances. His move to Club Brugge, in Summer 2024, immediately proved successful. He settled in right away at his new team and the young man immediately took centre stage: 41 total appearances with four goals and six assists between the league and the cups, culminating in winning the Belgian Cup, the best young player award (recently won by CDK and Noa Lang) and best Juniper Pro League player. Jashari also showed his class in the Champions League, with 11 outstanding performances, knocking out Atalanta in the play-offs and playing high-level teams like Juventus, Manchester City and AC Milan. In fact, at San Siro, in Brugge’s 3-1 away defeat, he impressed with his vision of play, interceptions and solidity. He made his debut for Switzerland in 2022 and was part of their Qatar World Cup side, but he only got a few minutes of game time in the Round of 16 against Portugal. More recently, he featured in friendlies against Mexico and the USA in June 2025.
What Jashari will bring to AC Milan: leadership, dynamism and personality
Ardon began his career in Lucerna youth academy with ambitions to become a number 10, most of all because of his strong dribbling and finishing. When he moved into the first team, however, he changed position and became a modern central midfielder: organised, dynamic and capable of building up play and stopping opponent’s attacks.
In Bruges, he mainly played as a right central midfielder in a 4-2-3-1, but throughout his career he showed his ability to adapt to a midfield three and to the base of a diamond. Allegri, in his 4-3-3, could use him as a deep midfielder or as a box-to-box midfielder depending on the system and his teammates. His qualities (vision, intensity, clean passing, tactical intelligence) make him a real asset, ready to bring balance to the midfield. Physically compact and lean with strong ball management and a great left foot, Jashari can also get involved in attack, as proven by his goal and assist record. His experience as a number 10 also makes him dangerous in the final third, where he can make a difference with late runs and finishes. The young Swiss midfielder’s move to the Rossoneri is a strong sign of Tare’s plan. The transfer, in terms of technique and vision, is similar to the signing of De Ketelaere from Club Brugge three years ago: it was a move welcomed with enthusiasm at the time, but ended with the Belgian thriving far from Milan, in Bergamo.
With Jashari, AC Milan are not just investing in an already proven talent, but an internationally recognised player able to set the pace and guarantee balance on the field. Now it’s over to Allegri to bring out his potential, integrating him within a side made up of seasoned professionals like Modrić, Fofana and Loftus-Cheek, and young players ready to step up, just like Ricci.
