Inter vs. Pisa: Top vs Bottom matchday 22 kick off

League leaders Inter, host Pisa as they look to extend their lead over their closest challengers. The Tuscan side aim to move away from the bottom of the table.

Matchday 22 gets underway with Inter vs. Pisa, a fixture that could prove to be a crucial turning point in the title race. The Nerazzurri have not lost since 23 November and have collected 25 points from their last nine matches, trying to run away from their rivals, who face each other this weekend: Juventus vs. Napoli and Roma vs. Milan are both scheduled for Sunday. Three points are needed before Inter can sit back and relax for now. Pisa, however, have other plans: coming off two consecutive draws, they are determined to leave last place behind.

There have been nine meetings in Milan between the two sides: Inter have won eight (most recently 6–3 in Serie A 1990/91), Pisa have won one (1–0 away in Serie A 1982/83), and there have been no draws.

The last meeting at San Siro dates back to 21 October 1990, a 6–3 Inter win. Serena scored a hat-trick, Matthäus netted twice (including a penalty), and Bergomi also scored; for Pisa, Piovanelli scored twice and there was an own goal by Stringara.

Pisa’s only win away to Inter came on 6 March 1983, a 1–0 victory decided by a Giampiero Marini own goal.
