Genoa vs Roma: Three Points Needed

Genoa play Roma in a clash between relegation worries and Champions League ambitions.

Daniele De Rossi welcomes his former side at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, hoping to recover from the loss against Inter and move away from the relegation zone. Roma are coming into this following their draw with Juventus after they let victory slip away. Now they are on the hunt for three points to stay in fourth place.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There have been 62 official meetings in Liguria between the two sides: Genoa have won 29 (most recently 4–1 in Serie A 2023/24), there have been 19 draws (most recently 1–1 in Serie A 2024/25) and Roma have won 14 (most recently 2–0 away in Serie A 2021/22).

Roma have scored in each of their last 10 away matches against Genoa, for a total of 17 goals. Their last scoreless game at Genoa dates back to 18 May 2014 (Genoa–Roma 1–0, Serie A).

DID YOU KNOW?

Genoa have recorded one win in their last five Serie A matchdays in 2025/26: a 3–0 home win over Torino at Marassi on 22 February 2026, followed by one draw and three defeats.

In Genoa’s five home matches of 2026, they have scored every time, with 12 goals in total.

Roma are the only team in Serie A 2025/26 yet to concede a penalty.

Roma are the team that have conceded the fewest goals in Serie A 2025/26 (19).

COACHES and PLAYERS

It will be the third official meeting between Daniele De Rossi and Gian Piero Gasperini: De Rossi has won both previous meetings.

Daniele De Rossi is the “ex” of the day: it is his second match against Roma, the club where he spent his entire playing career (616 appearances, 63 goals), winning two Coppa Italia titles and one Supercoppa Italiana. He also coached Roma for 31 official matches (from January to September 2024), posting 13 wins, 11 draws and seven defeats. His last game in charge of the Giallorossi was in Genoa, Genoa–Roma 1–1 on 15 September 2024.

Gian Piero Gasperini is ex of the day: he coached Genoa from July 2006 to November 2010, and again from September 2013 to June 2016, for a total of 297 official matches in charge (122 wins, 70 draws, 105 defeats).

Caleb Ekuban is among the players with the most appearances off the bench in Serie A 2025/26 (18), level with Konan N’Dri (Lecce) and Riyad Idrissi (Cagliari).

Wesley scored against Juventus: it was the Brazilian wide player’s fourth league goal of the season. He had not scored since 15 December 2025 (Roma–Como 1–0).

Evan Ndicka scored against Juventus: it was the Ivorian defender’s second league goal of the season — and his second in a row.

Donyell Malen scored against Juventus: the Dutchman has now scored six Serie A goals in the 2026 calendar year. Only Harry Kane (9) has scored more across Europe’s top five leagues in 2026.
