Genoa vs Lazio wraps up the fifth matchday
Matchday 5 ends at Marassi with Genoa hosting Lazio. The home side have alternated draws and losses, including a last-minute defeat at Bologna. They are eager for their first win of their campaign. Lazio also need those three points, having managed only one win (against Verona) in four games, with losses to Como, Sassuolo and Roma.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
There have been 65 official previous encounters between the two teams at Marassi, with a record of 33 Genoa victories, 16 draws, and 16 Lazio successes. Genoa-Lazio was a championship final in the pre-single group era: in 1922/23, Genoa-Lazio 4-1 in the first leg, Lazio-Genoa 0-2 in the second leg, with the Grifone becoming Champions of Italy.
DID YOU KNOW?
Lazio have gone without goals for two consecutive away matches in Serie A - this had not happened since the 2020/21 season when they failed to score for 3 matches in a row, away to Fiorentina, Roma, and Sassuolo, all in May.
