Genoa vs. Cagliari: Battle to climb the table

Following draws last week, Genoa and Cagliari will aim to win to distance themselves from the drop zone.

Penultimate match of the first round of the return leg at Luigi Ferraris: Genoa vs. Cagliari. The Grifone, who haven’t won since December 8 against Udinese, will try again against the Sardinians after seeing victory slip away in the final minutes at San Siro against AC Milan. Cagliari, sitting three points above, come into the game following a last-minute draw in Cremona, and are determined to win to distance themselves from their rivals and the relegation zone.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There are 38 official previous matches between the two teams at Genoa's home with a record of 20 Ligurian successes (the last 3-0 in Serie A 2023/24), 12 draws (the last 2-2 in Serie A 2024/25) and 6 Cagliari victories (the last 1-2 in Serie A 2013/14).

Cagliari without victories at Marassi, Rossoblù side, since April 19th 2014 (2-1 in Serie A with goals from Sau and Ibarbo in comeback, Genoa advantage with De Maio, coaches Gasperini for the Grifone, Ivo Pulga for the Sardinians).
