Frosinone vs Torino, dreams of Europe

Frosinone are looking for a victory and thus an overtake over a Torino invigorated by their 3-0 victory over Atalanta last week

Three points to keep up the European dream. Frosinone and Torino meet at 12:30 CET as both teams look to sneak in amongst the top teams and fight for a place in Europe next season. Following their defeat to AC Milan, Frosinone will look to repeat their victory away at the Granata on 2 November in the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa: 1-2 after extra time. After overtaking their opponents last week, Ivan Juric’s team will be looking for revenge, winning another three points and increasing the distance between themselves and their opponents and propelling their European ambitions.

DID YOU KNOW?

Only Juventus (17) have picked up more points at home than Frosinone (16) this season. The last newly promoted team to record more points after the first eight home games in a Serie A season was Hellas Verona in 2013/14 (21). Frosinone’s goal scorers have an average age of 23 years and 127 days in Serie A this season. This is the lowest average for a team in a single season in the top flight since Lecce 2004/05 (22 years and 360 days).

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Torino have won all four of their previous Serie A matches against Frosinone. Only against Napoli, Roma and Inter have the Ciociari lost more matches in the competition (five defeats to all three teams). Frosinone have found the net in each of the four previous home games against Torino across Serie A and B, a period in which they recorded just one win – losing two and drawing the other. Frosinone is the opponent Torino have faced most times where they have both scored and conceded goals – doing so in each previous match in Serie A. 11 goals scored and six conceded against the Ciociari in four previous matches in the competition.

PLAYERS

Frosinone’s Matías Soulé has scored six goals in Serie A this season, the last two under 21 players to score more goals in a single season in the Italian top-flight with a newly promoted team were Juan Iturbe (eight) and Domenico Berardi (16) - both in 2013/14. Torino’s Duván Zapata has scored five goals in three matches against Frosinone in Serie A, no player has scored more goals against the Ciociari in the competition (five also for Gonzalo Higuaín).
