Frosinone vs Lecce: Hosts aim to maintain European push

Frosinone aim to stay among the leading sides, while Lecce look to keep their distance from the relegation zone.

The penultimate fixture of Matchday 9 of Serie A takes place at the Stirpe, where Frosinone host Lecce. Massimiliano Alvini's side have scored eight goals in their last two matches and, following their draw in Bergamo, will be looking to return to winning ways and consolidate their place in the European spots. Eusebio Di Francesco's side will therefore need to be particularly alert defensively. Lecce have picked up just three points from their last four matches, courtesy of a win over Udinese, and will be determined to add to their tally to avoid slipping further down the table.

HEAD TO HEAD

There have been 13 previous competitive meetings between the two sides in Frosinone: 4 wins for Frosinone (most recently 3-1 after extra time in the 2013/14 Lega Pro First Division play-offs), 4 draws (most recently 1-1 in Serie A 2023/24) and 5 wins for Lecce (most recently 3-0 in Serie B 2020/21).

Frosinone-Lecce is a historic fixture for the Giallazzurri: Frosinone’s last win against Lecce came on 7 June 2014, in the play-off final that earned them promotion to Serie B. They won 3-1 after extra time at the Stadio Matusa, with goals from Paganini, Frara and Viola after Beretta had given Lecce the lead.
