Fiorentina vs. Napoli: another big showdown

After Juventus vs. Inter, Serie A offers fans another must-watch match: Fiorentina vs. Napoli.

The Stadio Artemio Franchi will stage a special Saturday night as the Italian champions arrive in Florence after winning their first two games. Fiorentina, after two draws against Cagliari and Torino, are hunting for their first victory of the campaign. After scoring three times for Italy against Estonia and Israel, Moise Kean is hoping to get off the mark in Serie A. Napoli, meanwhile, will look to capitalise on the clash between Juve and Inter to strengthen their position with a third straight victory.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There have been 84 official meetings between the two clubs in Florence: 39 Fiorentina wins, 24 draws, and 21 Napoli victories. Fiorentina have won at home against Napoli only once in the last 16 encounters: 3–0 in Serie A on 29 April 2018; in between there were seven draws and eight wins for the Partenopei. In that victory, Giovanni Simeone scored a hat-trick and the Viola were coached—then as now— by Stefano Pioli.

DID YOU KNOW?

For the second consecutive year, Fiorentina have opened the Serie A campaign with two draws from their first two matches. Napoli ended the 2024/25 Serie A season and have begun 2025/26 on a 14-match unbeaten run (nine wins and five draws). Their last defeat was 1–2 away to Como on 23 February.

COACHES and PLAYERS

There have been 14 managerial head-to-heads between Stefano Pioli and Antonio Conte, most recently in the 2022/23 Champions League round of 16 (Tottenham vs Milan). Conte has eight wins to Pioli’s two, with four draws. Their first meeting dates back to Grosseto–Bari 2–2 in March 2008 in Serie B. Moise Kean has yet to score in the 2025/26 Serie A season; last year, in the Viola shirt, he found the net on matchday three in Fiorentina–Monza (2–2). Rasmus Højlund has scored 10 goals in Serie A, none from the penalty spot. His most recent goal in our league dates back to 4 June 2023 (Atalanta–Monza 5–2). Across 40 matches played in September as a head coach, Antonio Conte has suffered only one defeat (September 2006 in Serie B: Arezzo–Bari 0–1), alongside 23 wins and 16 draws. In Serie A he is unbeaten in this month, with 18 wins and 7 draws from 25 matches in charge.
