Fiorentina vs. Juventus: no room for error

Fiorentina and Juve both need the three points up for grabs: the Viola to rise from the bottom, while the Bianconeri aim to move closer to the top spots.

A pivotal game is set to take place at the Franchi between Fiorentina and Juventus. Paolo Vanoli, at 61 appearances and three goals for the Viola, including one in the first leg of the 2001 Coppa Italia Final, makes his debut at the Franchi as coach. His arrival hopes to give the fans their first league win of the season against one of the club’s historical rivals. Luciano Spalletti’s side also need the three points, after their 0-0 draw in the derby, as they hope to climb up the table.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There have been 97 official meetings between the two teams in Florence: Fiorentina have won 33 (the most recent a 3–0 victory last season), there have been 37 draws (the last a 1–1 in Serie A 2022/23) and 27 Juventus wins (the most recent a 1–0 in Serie A 2023/24). Juventus have won only once in Serie A in their last six visits to the Franchi: Fiorentina– Juventus 0–1 (goal by Fabio Miretti in the 10th minute) in the 2023/24 season. The remaining record is 2 Fiorentina wins and 3 draws.

DID YOU KNOW?

Fiorentina won their second and most recent league title on 11 May 1969, winning 2–0 in Turin against Juventus. The goals that day were scored by Chiarugi and Maraschi. Fiorentina are also the team that have had the most penalties both for and against: 3 in their favour (like Milan, Napoli, Pisa and Sassuolo) and 4 against (like Napoli). Fiorentina are still without a win in Serie A 2025/26, like Verona. Their last league victory dates back to 25 May, a 3–2 win in Udine. Never before had the Tuscans gone winless in the first 11 matchdays of a Serie A season. Juventus are the team with the most different scorers in Serie A 2025/26 (11, like Inter), and the one that has scored the most goals through substitutes (4).

COACHES and PLAYERS

Juventus is Albert Gudmundsson's favorite victim in Italy: 3 goals scored against the bianconeri, like Frosinone and Spal. All goals scored against the Old Lady came at home (in Genoa-Juventus on May 6, 2022, the Scandinavian striker's first ever goal in Italy, in Genoa- Juventus on December 15, 2023 and in Fiorentina-Juventus on March 16, 2025, all in Serie A).
