Fiorentina against Frosinone to change pace

Fiorentina, who have yet to win in 2024, play to overcome a challenging period and return to chasing the fourth place. Frosinone seek survival points

30 December 2023, Fiorentina 1-0 Torino. That's the last win for the Viola, who host Frosinone to return to winning and update their calendar and standings. After collecting just one point in the last four matches, Fiorentina aim to get closer to the fourth place. Frosinone, on the other hand, is still far enough from the relegation zone and wants to stay there: they need points at the Franchi to forget quickly about the last defeat against AC Milan.

DID YOU KNOW?

Frosinone are one of the three sides without an away win in Serie A this season (with Cagliari and Lecce). The Ciociari’s last away win in Serie A came against Fiorentina in April 2019. Fiorentina and Frosinone have attempted the joint-fewest shots from fast breaks in Serie A this season: with four and six respectively. Fiorentina and Frosinone both rank inside the top six for high turnovers in Serie A this season: with the Viola leading the ranking (200), while the Ciociari are sixth (174) – among them are Napoli (190), Inter (184), Lecce (178) and Atalanta (175).

HEAD-TO-HEAD

After defeating Frosinone 4-1 in their first Serie A meeting in November 2015, Fiorentina are winless in their last four league matches against the Ciociari, drawing three, including the reverse fixture this season: 1-1 in September 2023 (L1). In the two previous Serie A meetings between Fiorentina and Frosinone at the Franchi stadium, there has been a victory for both sides, with the last such clash won by the Ciociari in April 2019 (1-0, goal from Daniel Ciofani).

PLAYERS

Andrea Belotti has been involved in five goals in his three Serie A matches against Frosinone (two braces, one assist); while his last goal in Serie A came against a newly promoted side (v Cagliari in October). Matías Soulé – who scored in the reverse fixture between these two sides this season – is one of only three South American players to have scored 10 or more goals in the Big-5 European leagues this season (10), alongside Lautaro Martínez (19) and Richarlison (10). This meeting will involve the midfielder with the second most recoveries in Serie A this season (Enzo Barrenechea with 158, behind only Udinese’s Walace - 178) and the midfielder with the second most recoveries in the final third (Giacomo Bonaventura with 16, behind only Torino’s Nikola Vlasic with 19).
