Empoli vs. Como: a bid to turn things around

At the Castellani Computer Gross Arena, Empoli and Como clash in search of three points

Empoli and Como will face off at 18:30 CET, coinciding with the Parma vs. Genoa match, in a crucial afternoon for survival on Monday. Both teams are eager to secure a win: the hosts haven’t triumphed since Matchday 5, collecting only one point in their last four matches. The visitors, on the other hand, have lost their last two games and have not secured a full three points since Matchday 6.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Empoli have remained unbeaten in five of their six matches against Como in Serie A (W2 D3), with the only Como win against the Tuscans in the competition dating back to 22 November 1987 (a 3-2 win at Sinigaglia Stadium). Empoli and Como have drawn all three of their Serie A encounters played at Empoli’s home, including their last meeting in the competition (0-0 on 2 February 2003).

DID YOU KNOW?

Empoli have not scored a goal in their five home games this season and could become the first team to fail to score in their first six home games of the season in Serie A history. Como has conceded the most goals in the last quarter of play in this Serie A (eight from the 76th minute onwards), while only Inter (46%) has conceded more goals in percentage in this period in the current tournament than Empoli (four out of nine, 44%).

PLAYERS

Ardian Ismajli is the player with the most clearances in Serie A this season (92, 43 of which were headers, another record), alongside him is Mattia Viti, the defender who has recorded the highest number of tackles (29) in Serie A 2024/25. Como’s Patrick Cutrone made 28 appearances for Empoli and scored three goals for the club in Serie A in the 2021/22 season. After scoring four goals in the first six matchdays of this campaign, the Como striker has scored no goal in all the last four, despite having played at least 85 minutes in each of the four games. Andrea Belotti has scored four goals in Serie A against Empoli, all away from home – including his last hat-trick in the competition (1 May 2022 while playing for Torino).
