Edin Džeko back in Italy
The return of a star
After his time in Turkey with Fenerbahçe, Džeko is saying goodbye to Istanbul and José Mourinho and returning to Italy, where he has already played for Roma and Inter. The 1986-born Bosnian forward has in fact signed for Fiorentina and is ready to help La Viola with his array of experience, charisma and winning mentality, especially considering that the Tuscan side will be involved in three competitions in the 2025/26 season: the league, the Coppa Italia and the Conference League. A busy calendar, an ambitious and clear message: everyone’s input will be needed. And it is in these key moments that someone like Džeko can make the difference, both on and off the pitch. Furthermore, when you have class, time plays on your side, not against you.
A wave of experience (and leadership) for La Viola
Džeko will be of huge value to Fiorentina, looking to continue their growth by signing a player able to guide the dressing room and set an example for staff and teammates, helping the young players to thrive. He is also a striker partner who could play alongside (and support) Moise Kean. In his leadership role, the Bosnian will be a plus both technically and in terms of motivation, above all at key times throughout the season. Since when you have passion, hunger and intelligence, age is just a number. The club’s direction’s goal is quite clear: raising the level of the team, adding a mix of charisma and experience to the dressing room. Just like they did a year ago with bringing David de Gea in. The numbers then speak for themselves on the Sarajevo Swan’s form: in the 2024/25 season, 53 games played, 21 goals and 8 assists. Not bad for someone who turned 39 on 17 March.
Serie A welcomes back a true goalscorer
With 1.93 metres worth of class and substance, Serie A is welcoming back one of the best centre-forwards in recent years. Power, technique, charisma: Džeko was all of this and much more. He made his mark wherever he played (just ask Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Roma, Inter and Fenerbahçe) and now he is ready to write a new chapter on the banks of the Arno
Welcome back, Edin.
