Cremonese vs. Atalanta: a Lombard derby
The Saturday-night clash on matchday 8 in Serie A will see Cremonese take on Atalanta. The hosts have enjoyed a strong start to the season, picking up ten points, and will be looking to claim a win that has eluded them since matchday 2. Atalanta, one point ahead of their next opponents and the only unbeaten side left in Serie A, have drawn their last three matches and are aiming to secure a victory to keep in touch with the leaders.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Twentieth Lombardy derby in Cremona between the two sides: seven Grigiorossi wins, eight draws, and five Bergamaschi victories. In the previous meeting played in Bergamo on 23 February 1992, which finished 1–1, the Grigiorossi goalkeeper Michelangelo Rampulla famously scored. His goal came in the 90th minute, cancelling out Bianchezi’s lead for the Bergamaschi from the penalty spot. Cremonese’s most recent win dates to 6 February 1994, a 2–0 Serie A victory via a Montero own goal and a strike by Maspero; in the six subsequent clashes at the Zini there have been two draws and four Nerazzurri (Atalanta) wins.
DID YOU KNOW?
Cremonese are unbeaten at home in 11 official matches across last season and this: four Grigiorossi wins and seven draws. Their last home defeat was on 22 February (1–2 to Cesena in Serie B). Atalanta are the only unbeaten team in Serie A 2025/26. The Nerazzurri have not lost in the league since 25 May, when Parma won 3–2 in Bergamo.
