Cagliari vs. Parma: Serie A returns
After Italy’s wins over Estonia and Israel, Serie A resumes at the Unipol Domus where Fabio Pisacane’s Cagliari take on Carlos Cuesta’s Parma, with both teams sitting on one point after two matches. It’s also a showdown between two coaches in their debut season. The Sardinians, officially the tallest team in the world, are looking for their first win after drawing with Fiorentina and losing in the dying seconds to reigning champions Napoli at the Maradona. Their aim is to kickstart their survival battle. Parma share the same goal and come into the game having bounced back from an opening-day defeat at Juventus with a draw against Atalanta.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
There have been 38 official meetings between the two sides in Sardinia: 21 Cagliari wins, 11 draws, and 6 Parma victories. Cagliari have scored at home against Parma in eight consecutive matches, totaling 19 goals —an average of over two per game. Parma have not won in Sardinia since March 2000 (3–2 in Serie A), as their most recent away success against Cagliari came in Trieste (1–0 in the 2012/13 Serie A Enilive, with a decisive goal by Rosi).
