Bologna vs. Torino: a chance to dream big
Bologna welcome Torino to the Dall’Ara on matchday 9 in Serie A. After being pegged back at the death by Fiorentina on Sunday, the Rossoblù want three points to maintain their push towards the top spots and make it six matches unbeaten. Torino, meanwhile, have no intention of slowing down: after beating Napoli and Genoa, the Granata are chasing a third straight win to draw level with Vincenzo Italiano’s side in the table.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Since the introduction of the single round championship format, the sides have met 75 times in Bologna: 38 Rossoblù victories (most recently a 3-2 success last season), 23 draws (the last being a goalless stalemate in 2021/22), and 14 Granata wins (latest: a 1-0 triumph in 2015/16). The visitors haven't tasted victory in Bologna since 16 April 2016, when Belotti converted a last-gasp penalty for a 1-0 win. Since then, nine fixtures have yielded four home victories and five draws.
DID YOU KNOW?
Bologna-Torino was the Scudetto showdown in the final season before the single round championship format (1928/29). A playoff in Rome proved necessary, with the Rossoblù crowned champions courtesy of Muzzioli's 82nd-minute strike. The regular season meetings saw Bologna win 3-1 at home and Torino prevail 1-0 away. Bologna has 13 points in the standings after eight matchdays. In the era of three points per win, only in the 2000/2001 season did the Rossoblù do better (16). Bologna have suffered just one home defeat in 18 official matches during calendar year 2025—a 3-1 loss to Genoa on 24 May. The other 17 fixtures produced 13 wins and four draws.
COACHES and PLAYERS
Vincenzo Italiano and Marco Baroni have met six times officially: three wins for the Bologna boss, one for the Torino tactician, and two draws. Baroni was a former Bologna player, representing the Emiliani across the 1991/92 and 1992/93 Serie B seasons—49 appearances and three goals.
