Christian Vieri in New York to promote ‘Made in Italy’
Lega Calcio Serie A continues its collaboration with ICE and MAECI to promote Italian excellence at the world’s leading trade fairs. At the Javits Centre in New York, Italian football legend Christian Vieri attended Summer Fancy Food 2026 – one of the world’s most important trade fairs for the speciality food and drink sector – where he took part in the opening ceremony of the Italian Pavilion. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the Minister for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida; the Foreign Ministry’s Counsellor for exports and the internationalisation of the agri-food sector, and for European and international policies in the sector, Nicola Caputo; the President of ICE, Matteo Zoppas; the Italian Ambassador in Washington, Marco Peronaci; the President of the Piedmont Region, Alberto Cirio, and the President of Summer Fancy Food, Bill Lynch.
This was followed by the ‘Authentic Italian Aperitivo’, held to celebrate the inclusion of Italian cuisine on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list, with welcoming remarks from Minister Lollobrigida, Ambassador Peronaci, President Zoppas and Lega Calcio Serie A Ambassador Christian Vieri.
“I would like to thank all the institutions that have taken part today on this prestigious and important day for ‘Made in Italy’ - commented Vieri - and I would particularly like to send a big hug to all the Italians here in New York. Our food is the best in the world; the quality of our products is unrivalled. Those who follow me know that I also enjoy cooking and only buy Italian products, so I am proud to be here once again to represent the excellence of ‘Made in Italy’.”
