Second Semi-Final: Lazio vs Atalanta
Following Como–Inter, it is Lazio and Atalanta’s turn to contest the first leg of the second Coppa Italia semi-final. With the return fixture set for late April, both sides will be aiming to seize an early advantage in Rome.
Maurizio Sarri’s men, seven-time winners of the competition—the most recent triumph coming in 2018/19, fittingly against Atalanta—booked their semi-final spot by edging past AC Milan in the Round of 16 (1–0 at the Olimpico) and overcoming Bologna in the quarter-finals (1–1 after 90 minutes at the Dall’Ara before prevailing on penalties).
Atalanta, who lifted the trophy in 1963, advanced with commanding performances of their own, sweeping aside Genoa in the Round of 16 (4–0 at the New Balance Arena) before dispatching Juventus 3–0 in Bergamo in the quarter-finals.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
There are 65 precedents in Rome between the two teams: 28 Lazio victories (latest 3-2 in Serie A 2023/24), 21 draws (latest 1-1 in Serie A last year) and 16 Bergamo victories (latest 0-2 in Serie A last 14 February).
It will be the eleventh encounter between the two teams in the history of Coppa Italia, the fifth in knockout rounds. In the 4 precedents, 2 qualifications for Lazio (1938/39 and 2008/09) and 2 for Atalanta (1988/89 and 2020/21).
