Napoli vs Como, a place in the semifinals at stake

A one-off match at Maradona between Napoli and Como, with a place in the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa semifinals up for grabs, where they will face Inter, who have already knocked out Torino.

Napoli and Como face each other in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. The winners will secure a spot in the semifinals against Inter, who eliminated Torino last week.

Napoli, who have won the trophy six times — most recently in the 2019/20 season — reached this stage after edging past Cagliari 9–8 on penalties (1–1 after 90 minutes, with goals from Lucca and Esposito). Meanwhile, Cesc Fàbregas’ side, after eliminating Südtirol (3–1 at home), Sassuolo (3–0 at home) and Fiorentina (3–1 at the Franchi), are dreaming of reaching the semifinals for only the second time in their history.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There have been 18 official meetings in Naples between the two sides: Napoli have won 14 (most recently 3–1 in Serie A 2024/25), there have been two draws (most recently 0–0 on 1 November in Serie A) and Como have won two (most recently 1–0 away in Serie B 2003/04).

Como’s last win in Naples dates back to Matchday 1 of Serie B 2003/04 (Napoli–Como 0–1 on 7 September 2003): it was one of only two matches played that day due to a strike in the second tier. The winner was scored by Mauro Bressan.

The teams have met only once in the Coppa Italia: a two-legged group-stage tie in 1999/00, ending 1–1 in Naples and 2–1 to Napoli in Como in the return match.

DID YOU KNOW?

Napoli last reached the Coppa Italia semi-finals in 2020/21: in the two-legged tie against Atalanta, it finished 0–0 in Naples and Atalanta won 3–1 in Bergamo.

Napoli are the only club in Coppa Italia history to have won the trophy starting the competition as a Serie B side: it happened in 1961/62, when they beat SPAL 2–1 in the final.

If they progress, Como would match their best-ever Coppa Italia run: the semi-finals in 1985/86, when they were eliminated by Sampdoria (a 1–1 draw in Genoa, then a 0–2 forfeit in the return match).

COACHES and PLAYERS

It will be the fourth official meeting between Antonio Conte and Cesc Fàbregas: the previous three are perfectly balanced, with one win each and one draw.

Rasmus Højlund scored against Genoa: it was his fourth brace for Napoli and his fifth of the season including the Denmark national team. He had not scored a brace in an official match since 28 December 2025 (Cremonese–Napoli 0–2, Serie A).
