Atalanta and Lazio battle for a place in the final

After a 2-2 draw in the first leg, Atalanta and Lazio meet with a spot in the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa final on the line.

The first leg in Rome in early March ended 2-2, with goals from Dele-Bashiru, Pasalic, Dia and Musah — and that is where the sides will pick up as they look to book their place in the final, scheduled for 13 May in Rome.

Atalanta, after sweeping aside Genoa (4-0) and Juventus (3-0), will aim to get the better of Maurizio Sarri’s side, seeking revenge for the 2018/19 final defeat and chasing the second Coppa Italia title in their history after their 1962/63 triumph. Lazio, meanwhile, reached this stage with wins over AC Milan and holders Bologna: a 1-0 victory at the Olimpico against the Rossoneri and a penalty shootout success at the Dall’Ara after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
If the sides are level after 90 minutes, extra time and, if required, penalties will decide who advances.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There have been 67 previous meetings between the two sides in Bergamo: 26 wins for Atalanta  (most recent 3-1, Serie A 2023/24), 30 draws (most recent 0-0, Serie A 2025/26) and 11 wins for Lazio (most recent 0-1, Serie A 2024/25).

COPPA ITALIA FRECCIAROSSA

This will be the 13th meeting between Lazio and Atalanta in the history of the Coppa Italia: the record stands at 4 wins for Lazio, 5 draws and 3 wins for Atalanta.

In the history of the competition, Atalanta have faced only Juventus (19 times) more often than Lazio (13 times including this second-leg semi-final, the same as Fiorentina).

Considering only the knockout stages, this is the fifth meeting between the two sides, with two qualification rounds each. In addition, the 2018/19 final was won by Lazio (2-0, goals from
Milinkovic-Savic and Correa).

Atalanta are in the Coppa Italia semi-finals under the current format (introduced in 2021/22) for the second time since the 2023/24 edition, in which they lost the final to Juventus.

Should they qualify,Atalanta would be playing in their 7th Coppa Italia final in the competition’s history. In the six previous occasions, the Bergamo side have won the title on just one occasion (beating Torino 3-1 in 1962/63).

Atalanta are the 2025/26 Coppa Italia side who have hit the woodwork the most (3).

Atalanta are the 2025/26 Coppa Italia side who have scored the most goals through substitutes (4).

Lazio are in the Coppa Italia semi-finals under the current format (introduced in 2021/22) for the second time following the 2023/24 edition, when they were knocked out by Juventus.

Should they qualify,Lazio would be playing in their 11th Coppa Italia final. In their 10 previous appearances, the Biancocelesti have lifted the trophy on seven occasions.
