Criteria to be followed for the draw of the Serie A 2026-2027 calendar

THREE FIFA WINDOWS INSTEAD OF FOUR: Starting from the 2026/2027 Season, September and October FIFA international windows will be merged into a single break with four dates for international matches. Consequently, Serie A will be suspended on Sunday 27 September 2026 and Sunday 4 October 2026.

ASYMMETRY: The order of matches in the first leg will differ from the second leg.

8 MATCHDAYS: A minimum interval of eight matchdays separating home and away fixtures against the same opponent will be guaranteed.

MIDWEEK ROUNDS: Two midweek rounds are scheduled in the 2026/2027 Serie A Season: MD 9 (28 October) and MD 18 (6 January).

DERBIES: All derby fixtures will be scheduled on different matchdays and will not take place on MD 1, MD 9 (midweek round), nor MD 38.

MATCHES BETWEEN CLUBS PARTICIPATING IN UEFA COMPETITIONS: Clubs participating in the UEFA Champions League will not face Clubs participating in the UEFA Europa League or UEFA Europa Conference League on MD 7, 21, 25, 28, 31 and 34, as these fall between UEFA “back-to-back” matchdays. This restriction also applies to MD 4 for Clubs participating in the UEFA Europa League only.

HOME AND AWAY ALTERNATION: Mandatory alternation of home and away matches will apply to the following pairs of Clubs: INTER-MILAN, LAZIO-ROMA, JUVENTUS-TORINO.
